THE STEPS of the Water Cycle!
1. The Sun provides the energy that makes the water cycle function.
2. Sun’s energy is solar energy, caused by radiation.
3. water cycle-the constant recycling of water on Earth.
4. three main steps of the water cycle-evaporation(transpiration), condensation, and precipitation.
5. evaporation-water changing into a gas called water vapor, must add energy to the molecules to cause evaporation.
6. ONLY water evaporates from the oceans, the salt is left behind!!!
7. transpiration-plants losing water vapor to the air through leaves (plant sweat! )
8. condensation-water vapor cooling down (losing energy) enough to change into tiny droplets of water.
9. clouds are caused by condensation, clouds are gazillions of tiny water droplets.
10. clouds form when water vapor condenses on dust, smoke or even salt particles from the ocean.
11. precipitation-liquid and solid forms of water falling from the sky to the ground.
12. Precipitation forms when water droplets about the size of a period in a sentence start growing, must get about 100 times larger to fall.
13. Infiltration-a portion of the precipitation that reaches the Earth's surface seeps into the ground, adding to the aquifer.
14. runoff-water from precipitation making its way back into the ocean.
15. condensation happens at the dew point.
16. water must condense on something solid. Dew forms on grass.
17.Dew evaporates as the day warms up!
